History Matters!
Do you know your story – our story?
Announcing a new,
three-volume set of
South Carolina Synod history books!
This
new set will tell the story of the South Carolina Synod
and will provide a reference resource for and about the Synod.
As a public record of the life and ministry of the SC Synod,
it will be found in homes, churches and libraries.
What will these three volumes
contain? What’s in it for you?
South Carolina Lutherans have a long history, and these new volumes
will contain it
all in one place. This set will not replace the older 1971 and 1988 history
volumes that
are no longer widely available so much as update them.
History matters!
Here's how the volumes will be
organized:
VOLUME ONE, a
narrative history, will give an overview of our history but will
focus particularly on the twenty years since the founding of the ELCA in 1988.
VOLUME TWO will tell
stories of every congregation in the synod, including YOURS!
Watch for the well-trained team of History Detectives who will be
visiting local
congregations to bring resources and expertise!
VOLUME THREE is
designed to give information about all Lutheran rostered leaders
who have ever served in the South Carolina Synod, beginning in the 1700's. This
volume will answer questions about where and when each leader served as well as
provide information about their families. This volume will give information that
both
congregations and genealogists will find helpful! The History Book Coordinating
Committee is dedicated to making this three-volume set a welcome addition to
your
bookshelf, and one that will serve you well.
Enjoy learning the stories of your own
congregation—
stories you may have never heard!
